Christmas Lights
The Oxford Street celebrates Christmas in its own grand style. The Regent Street began the tradition of using Christmas lights in the late 1950’s, and Oxford Street followed suit. It stopped for a bit during recession and laser lights began in the late 70’s. Mid to late November, a celebrity comes and put on the lights which stay on till 6th January. Some of the popular celebrities have been Cliff Richard, Spice Girls, Ronan Keating, Blue, Enrique Iglesias, Westlife, Leona Lewis, Jim Carrey and many others. Come Christmas, and this is the place to be. Celebrate the spirit of the city, right here at Oxford Street.
